Frequently Asked Questions

Are you accepting new patients?

We are able to accept a limited number of new patients. If you are new to the area, or need to establish a relationship with a primary care physician, please call our office at (435) 628-9200 to be placed on the waiting list.  All new patients must submit new patient forms before being placed on the waiting list.

Do you see children at your office?

We only accept patients who are 14 years and older.

What is the wait time at your office?

We respect your time, but also ensure that each patient gets the level of care and attention they need from your Doctor.  A typical wait time in our office is 20 minutes.  It may be more or less depending on the needs of the patients who are being seen before you.  If you feel you haven’t been seen in a timely manner, please inform someone at the front desk.

If I arrive at my appointment early, can I be seen early?

We recommend that patients come at their scheduled time. Patients are seen in the order of their scheduled appointments not in the order of their arrival time.  If you are a new patient or have extra paperwork to fill out, please come 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment.

What insurances do you take?

Southwest Internal Medicine is contracted with most insurance companies.  Please see our Insurances page for the most up-to-date information on which insurances we accept.  If you have additional questions, feel free to contact our billing department at (435) 628-9200.

I need a prescription refilled.  What do I do?

To refill a  prescription, please contact your pharmacy. They will forward the refill request to our office.  If there is a problem at the pharmacy, please call our office.

Prescription refill requests are only processed during business hours.  Therefore, make sure you have ample supply of your prescriptions before a weekend or holiday.

What do I do about lab work?

We have an in-house lab that can perform many of the basic lab tests.  These results are available immediately for the doctor to review.    If the doctor orders labs that we are not able to perform, there are several lab facilities that are easily accessible in the area.  Our office opens at 8:00 every morning for those who wish to come early to have their lab work done.
